Semana Stanza

The title of this blog "Semana Stanza" is derived from one of the most religiously recognized times in Latin America, “Semana Santa” otherwise known as “Holy Week.”  Usually during the Easter/Lent time period, a series of Catholic/Christian religious reflections, processions, and celebrations occur. As a practicing Catholic, I was taught to place all of my thoughts, respect and energy into honoring the omnipotent. As I came of age, I channeled a lot of the same energy and dedication into writing poetry. Respecting the art of expression and what it teaches as it walks us through the most turmoil of times. 

Writing poetry is a time of honest reflection and celebration of all that is expressive. Poetry above all else is forgiving, leaving room for creative freedom. In practice, most would attend church every Sunday. These days I turn pen to paper. Here is where you will find my weekly practice in spanglish poetic stanza form. This stylistic approach is my method of paying  homage to my roots.
